Jacob Valdez Acts Like a Wakeboarder

A couple of months ago, I learned of an actual Hollywood movie about wakeboarding that was in the works. The movie is going to have a plot line similar to that of the surfing movie “Blue Crush.” Before the full length movie is made, a pilot needed to be filmed.
Wakeboarding coach Mike Ferraro, cinematographer Sean Kilgus, along with riders Dallas Friday and Eddie and Jacob Valdez were brought in to make sure wakeboarding was portrayed the right way. Half the pilot movie was filmed in Orlando, while the other half was filmed at Canyon Lake in Southern California.
This shot was taken at the final contest of the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club. The Hollywood guys needed a contest setting for one of the scenes in the movie. It was pretty weird rolling up to the contest and seeing movie trailers, lights, cameras, and actors scattered throughout the contest.
In this scene, Jacob was supposed to say the line, “She held that grab the whole way.” What’s funny is they had to shoot it like ten times because Jacob either couldn’t remember the line or would laugh right in the middle of the scene.
Stick to wakeboarding Jake, Hollywood’s not for everyone!
