Back in the good old days, Hyperlite would throw an annual team trip to their local and private hotspot, Radar Lake. I was fortunate enough to be invited when the Sidewayz crew came into town to shoot footage for the then-upcoming “Welcome” video.

Getting in the helicopter, let alone shooting from it, is a mixed bag of emotions. All the unsettling questions always race through my mind.

On top of that, the new relationship between photog/videographer and pilot is a foreign feeling. There is a lot of silent, blind trust among those in the chopper. Feelings aside, what’s going on beneath us is sometimes the best distraction because you don’t have time to look up at anything else.

Grubb always kills it when there is a chopper overhead and this afternoon was no different. Our pilot got us into position shooting down toward the glare as Grubb attempted some wake-to-wake kickflips. This silohouette and angle reminds me of those special moments we all shared together out on the epic Radar Lake.
