Our week-long winching tangent kicked off with Wes Brisco informing me of this spot he knew of or thought he had seen on the side of the road. Right off the bat, it was a bit of a goose chase trying to locate what he “thought” he saw. Not really the ideal situation to plan an optimal lighting situation etc, but we made it work.

The week of rain filled this retention pond just perfect. The ollie was challenging yet still seemed comfortable for him. We scoped the spot, looked around for our chances of getting caught, and just went for it. I set up a light in the tree, then drove around to the other side where my truck was parked with the winch. Wes’ parnter in crime, Nick V, was on winch speed duty.

We got several attempts at it. Nobody knew we were there despite the loud noise of the winch. It was kind of stealthy in fact, even though it was on private business property. It gave us confidence nice and early in the week for more days of winch trespassing to follow.
