This summer, we were on Lake Shasta for the Gator Boards catalog shoot. This shot was fun because I got to ride doubles with Matt. There is nothing like working and playing at the same time. I just made fun of Matt the whole time he was riding. All in good fun of course.

I was just that annoying guy right there over his shoulder with my camera and loud mouth. My arm was killing me from holding the rope for so long. I was shredding on a wake surfer. If you look really closely at the bottom left corner of the frame you can see the tail of it. Flick.

Such an intense shot, how do you ride doubles, frame your shot, and get that higher angle all at once?

I agree with Schrunk’s question. How do ya manage to frame up that perfect shot, while on a wake surfer, and holding on to the rope?

    ray….nick….hello my friends.

Sometimes its just a matter of “feel”…..or, dare I say, “luck.” Actually the wake surfer is not that bad to steer on. Its very stable and not a lot of spray. I just got a new housing for a D200, so that is very light and easy to hold it out where you want it. First visualize the shot in your head, then put the camera where you think it needs to be. Then look through the hundred of so cropped off heads and feet until you find the magical one.
