Starry Night

I traveled to Lake Roosevelt, Washington last summer for the 08 CWB product shoot. The weather was nice and cool at night. Cool enough that most of the people on the boat slept on the roof and stared up at the stars. They took all the bedding out of the living rooms and set up shop upstairs to get the incredible view of the bright sky.
Before I went to bed that night, I walked up on the shore bank and set up my camera and tripod. I pointed it toward the sky and did some multiple minute exposures to capture the stars and glowing light coming from the houseboat windows. I must of sat up on that hill for about an hour, timing exposures and counting over and over again. The arcing streak from the stars is the earth moving while the shutter is open.

The odd part of this photo was that I had the exact same idea for my trip to lake powell, only I couldn’t do it because of houseboat complications. But I do love this photo. This has got to be one of the best landscape shots I have ever seen.
